Deutsche Grammophon has documented the long-standing collaboration with the Vienna Philharmonic with a special edition which includes 95 symphonies on 50 CDs. All recordings were produced in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna.

New Year's Concert 2013 with Franz Welser-Möst

The Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert 2013 was conducted for the second time by the Austrian conductor Franz Welser-Möst, General Music Director of the Vienna State Opera and Music Director of the Cleveland Orchestra. The program featured eleven compositions which had never before appeared on a New Year's Concert, including pieces by Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi, both of whose bicentennials are being commemorated in 2013. The New Year's Concert 2013 was broadcast on television and radio to 81 countries around the world. This is double the amount of countries which received the broadcast 10 years ago.

Drawing for Tickets for the New Year's Concert 2014

Due to extremely high demand, tickets for the Vienna Philharmonic's three traditional end of year concerts (the New Year's Concert on January 1st, the New Year's Eve Concert on December 31st and the Preview Performance on December 30th) are drawn by lot on this website at the beginning of each year. In this way, music lovers from all over the world have an equal chance to purchase these highly desired tickets. Between January 2 and 23, 2013, registrations will be accepted exclusively on this website to take part in the drawing for tickets to the end of year concerts 2013/2014.

Georges Prêtre Conducts Boléro

Maestro Georges Prêtre returns to the podium of the Vienna Philharmonic in January 2013 for concerts in Vienna, Paris, Berlin and Mannheim. Georges Prêtre, "Grand Officier de la Légion d'Honneur" and recipient of the Austrian Honorary Cross for Science and the Arts, 1st Class, has over the course of his long career conducted many concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic at home and abroad, including the New Year's Concerts of 2008 and 2010 and the Summer Night Concert Schönbrunn 2008. On the program of the upcoming concerts are compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven, Igor Strawinsky and Maurice Ravel.
