Martin Zalodek, who was born in Vienna in 1971, began playing the violin at the age of six. continuing on to study with Ernst Kovacic of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and Alfred Starr at the University of Music Graz/Oberschützen. After winning the 1st Prize at the Austrian National Competition in Leoben, he obtained a diploma from the Vienna Music High School and made his debut in 1991 at the Vienna Konzerthaus as a soloist with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra.

In 1993, Martin Zalodek was engaged by the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic. Martin Zalodek also performs in the baroque music ensemble VIENNA:CONTINUO and serves as concertmaster in various chamber orchestras, including the Vienna Schubert Ensemble, the Austrian-Korean Philharmonie and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. He has made numerous recording with groups such as the Zalodek Ensemble, and maintains an active participation in various chamber music ensembles at diverse festivals throughout Europe, Asia and the USA. Martin Zalodek performs on a violin made in 1695 by Iofredo Kappa in Saluzzo.
