New Member Yevgen Andrusenko

Jewgenij Andrusenko

At the Philharmonic general administrative meeting on December 2, 2008, a new member was accepted into the orchestra. Yefgen Andrusenko was born on March 22, 1974, in Chisinau, Moldavia, and received his first violin lessons at the age of six from his father, the violinist Alexander Andrusenko, who, like his mother, the pianist Natalia Zurkan, was a professor at the College of Music in Chisinau.  After only a few months he continued his studies with David Weiner and made his first solo appearance at nine years of age with the Chisinau Philharmonic. In 1984 he and his family moved to Kiev where Andrusenko attended and graduated from the music high school for the exceptionally gifted. He continued his violin study in 1992 at what was at that time the Conservatory of the City of Vienna with Boris Kuschnir; and, after switching professors in 1999 to Julian Rachlin, graduated with honours in 2003. He was engaged in 1996 by the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra, where he played in the 2nd violin section before moving to the first violins in 2002. Following another successful audition, he became a member of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra on September 1, 2008, where he joined the 2nd violin section.

During his years of study, Yefgen Andrusenko not only won many prizes at various competitions (the International Competition for Violin at Closter Schöntal 1990 and the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition 1991), but also made numerous solo appearances in many cities of the former Soviet Union, as well as in Croatia and in the USA. In addition he has dedicated himself to chamber music with other members of the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic.
