Prof. Reinhard Öhlberger
The 7th Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Chamber Music Series was presented on Saturday, April 11, 2015, in the Gustav Mahler-Saal of the Vienna State Opera. Performing was the "Ensemble Wiener Collage" under the direction of its "spiritus rector" René Staar. This is an ensemble which for decades has dedicated itself to the lofty goal of familiarizing the public with music of the 20th century music as well as present day compositions.
The ensemble members René Star (violin), Tobias Lea (viola), Tamás Varga (cello), and Günter Federsel (flute and piccolo), augmented by Stefan Neubauer (clarinet, Stage Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera), Johannes Marian (piano) and Sylvie Rohrer (narrator), performed Béla Bartók's Contrasts Sz. 111 for Violin, Clarinet and Piano and Zdzislaw Wysocki's Quartetto op. 46 for Violin, Viola, Cello and Piano. Following the intermission, Arnold Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire" op. 21, Melodrama in three times seven Poems to texts by Albert Giraud, completed the program.
