Krassimira Stoyanova is one of the leading sopranos of our time, highly acclaimed by press and public alike. She was born in Bulgaria and studied singing and the violin at the Plovdiv Conservatory. Her international debut followed at the Vienna State Opera, where she remains a regular guest and was named Kammersängerin in 2009.
Anita Rachvelishvili was born in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. She became internationally known in 2009, when she opened the La Scala season as Carmen opposite Jonas Kaufmann as Don José in an internationally televised performance. She has since performed at the most prominent operahouses in Europe and North America.
After appearing in a new production of Simon Boccanegra under Riccardo Muti in Rome, Francesco Meli made a name for himself as a Verdi tenor both in 2013 — the Verdi bicentenary — and later under leading conductors in major international opera houses. Following his role debut as Radamès at the 2017 Salzburg Festival, Francesco Meli will be appearing in new productions in Milan, London, Madrid, Munich and Vienna.
One of the most sought-after basses of his generation, Ildar Abdrazakov was born in Ufa in Bashkiria and was only twenty-five when he made his La Scala debut in 2001. Since then he has appeared at all the leading European and American opera houses.
Following the example of the Vienna Philharmonic, which was formed from the Vienna State Opera Orchestra, die Concert Association of the Vienna State Opera Chorus was founded in 1927 to enrich the musical scene.
