Patricia Koll was born in Vienna in 1988. She received her first violin instruction at the age of three from her father. At age five, Patricia was accepted into the class of young talents of Prof. Eugenia Polatschek, with whom she studied until 2010, first at the University in Vienna, then at the Vienna Conservatory, Private University. From 2010 until Bachelor Degree with honors in 2011, Patricia studied with Prof. Florian Zwiauer. After having aquired her degree in Vienna, Patricia then was accepted at the Hochschule in Stuttgart, Germany to work towards a masters degree in performance with Prof. Anke Dill. She also studied for several years in the rnasterclass of Lewis Kaplan of the Juillard School of Arts and with Anke Dill in masterclasses in Germany and Switzerland.
Patricia has won several first and spezial award prizes in Austrian violin competitions as well as first and best all around, at the age of 11, in an international competition in Barletta, Italy.
As soloist, Patricia has performed with the Vienna Music School Orchestra in the large hall of the Konzerthaus, with orchestras from Hungary and Slovakia, AOV Orchestra Vienna, and was selected as soloist with the Hungarian Chamber Orchestra for the International Schuberttage in 2003. In May 2011, Patricia performed as soloist in Bulgaria as part of Austrian Music Festival.
In 2005 Patricia was selected per jury for a concert for young artists under the sponsorship of Musica Juventutis, for a debut concert in the Schubert Hall of the Konzerthaus, Vienna. She was selected to play for a special chamber music concert in the Mozart Hall two years later, and was once again chosen in 2008 to play another solo concert in the Schubert Hall.
Patricia founded her own string quartet, the “Dissonanzen Quartet”, while in the music high school. They performed for a live radio concert and were selected to play for a Mozart film produced for Arte and ORF television. Patricia’s main channel of chamber music has been with her father and sister. Together they have performed as the Koll Trio in various parts of Austria, including seven concerts in the Musikverein in Vienna, in the USA and in Japan. There she performed the Mozart Concertante with her father in a live TV production.
After several years of substituting at the Vienna State Opera and in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Patricia won an audition for second violin at the Vienna State Opera in 2012. She was accepted as a full member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015. After a successful audition for section leader of the second violin, she was appointed into this position in 2016.
