The Concert for the Republic took place this year, at the request of Chancellor Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer, on November 12, the 90th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Austria.
On October 25 and 26, 2008, in the large auditorium of the Konzerthaus, two concerts of the Vienna Philharmonic took place under HK Gruber, who performed as speaker, chansonnier and conductor.
