Eine Woche nach Claudio Abbado, am 27. Jänner 2014 (und somit an Mozarts 208. Geburtstag), wurde eine der profiliertesten Persönlichkeiten der heimischen Kulturszene abberufen: Karl Löbl, der „Doyen der Kulturkritik“. Mit ihm verließ uns eine Persönlichkeit, welche das Kulturleben ebenso beeinflußt hatte wie zuvor der unvergeßliche Marcel Prawy.

As has been the custom ever since the founding of the Mozart Festival of the International Foundation Mozarteum in Salzburg in 1956, the Vienna Philharmonic appeared once again at this year's winter Mozart festival, performing three concerts.
The 73rd Vienna Philharmonic Ball took place on January 23, 2014.
The compositions performed on the 5th Philharmonic Subscription Concert were also played on tour.
