Martin Kubik was born in Düsseldorf in 1967 and grew up in Vienna. Beginning in 1974 he received private violin lessons from Alfred Starr, while studying trombone and composition at the Conservatory in Vienna and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He completed his high school education at the Vienna Music High School in 1986 and in that same year became a member of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. Today, Martin Kubik is a first violinist with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic. As an active chamber musician he performs at home and abroad with such ensembles as the Otto Nicolai Quartet, the Straka Ensemble, the Ensemble Kontrapunkte and the Philharmonia Schrammeln.
