Christian Frohn

Place of Birth: Wien
Membership in the Vienna State Opera Orchestra: 1987
Membership in the Association of the Vienna Philharmonic: 1990

Christian Frohn was born in Vienna in 1964. Following his study of concert violin at the College of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, he was accepted as a violinist in the Vienna State Opera Orchestra in 1987, and became a member of the Vienna Philharmonic in 1990. In addition to his work with this orchestra and his participation as a violinist in many chamber music endeavours at home and abroad, he also spent time studying the viola. After collaboration with Professor Alfred Staar and a successful audition, he switched from violin to principal viola with the Vienna Philharmonic in 1997. Since this time numerous solo appearances have taken him to various countries in Europe, as well as to the United States and Japan.
