The Salzburg Festival and the Vienna Philharmonic, with the support of the Salzburg Foundation of the American Austrian Foundation (AAF), invite interested young people between the ages of 7 and 15 to opera and music camps held at the Arenberg Palace during the Festival summer of 2008. In the inspiring atmosphere of the palace, they will create special versions of works which will also be performed at the Festival. Musicians of the Vienna Philharmonic, music educators, theater pedagogues, painters, dancers and sculptors will be at hand to assist the participants in their creative efforts. Attending a dress rehearsal at the Festival as well as a backstage tour of the Salzburg Festival are other highlights of the week. On the last day of the camp, the kids’ version of the opera will be presented to the public in the festival quarter, also featuring members of the Vienna Philharmonic.Bartók CampFor young people aged 11–15Sunday, August 3, 2008 to Friday, August 8, 2008Magic Flute CampFor children aged 7–10Sunday, August 10, 2008 toSaturday, August 16, 2008VenueSchloss Arenberg, Arenbergstrasse 10,5020 SalzburgFees€320 / Reduction for siblings: 10%(includes tuition, accommodation, food, supervision during free time, and accident insurance)Children from low-income families may receive stipends.ApplicationOn the website of the Salzburg Festival you will find more information on the music camps, as well as a registration form.
