Philharmonic Concerts with Daniele Gatti in Italy

On October 11, 2007, the Vienna Philharmonic made a guest appearance at the "Festival Internazionale di Musica e Arte Sacra", an annual event sponsored since 2002 by the "Fondazione Pro Musica e Arte Sacre" to support the maintenance of the artefacts contained in the Vatican. In the Basilica San Paolo fuori le mura, Danielle Gatti conducted the "Messa da requiem" by Giuseppi Verdi, with Fiorenza Cedolins (Soprano), Dolora Zajick (Alto), Fabio Sartori (Tenor), Ferruccio Furlanetto (Bass) and the Chorus from the Accademia Nazionale Santa Cecilia, prepared by Norbert Balatsch.

Two days later, Daniele Gatti conducted a concert in Turin at the Lingotto Hall, in which Ludwig van Beethoven’s "Coriolan" Overture, op. 62, "Three Pieces for Orchestra", op. 6 by Alban Berg, as well as Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 1 were performed. Two compositions of Johann Strauss, the "Frühlingstimmen" Waltz, op. 410, and Perpetuum mobile, op. 257, were played as encores.
