The Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert 2010 was presented to the media in a press conference on December 28th. Philharmonic Chairman Clemens Hellsberg was joined on the podium by conductor Georges Prêtre, ORF General Director Alexander Wrabetz and fashion designer Valentino.

Due to extremely high demand, tickets for the traditional end of year concerts are drawn by lot over the Vienna Philharmonic website at the beginning of each year. In this way, music lovers from all over the world have an equal chance to purchase these highly desired tickets. Between January 2 and 23, 2010, registrations will be accepted to take part in the drawing for tickets to the end of year concerts 2010/2011.

Wie jedes Jahr spenden die Wiener Philharmoniker auch diesmal 100.000 € aus den Erlösen der Voraufführung des Neujahrskonzerts an "Licht ins Dunkel". Die Spende wird für sechs verschiedene karitative Einrichtungen und Hilfsprojekte in Österreich verwendet.
