On September 3, 2009, the Vienna Philharmonic made a guest appearance for the first time at the Music Festival Grafenegg (Lower Austria). Zubin Mehta conducted works of Anton Webern (Passacaglia, op. 1; Six Pieces for Orchestra, op. 6; Concerto for Nine Instruments, op. 24) and the Symphony No. 4 in E minor, op. 98, by Johannes Brahms. For an encore (as performed in the New Year's Concerts of 1997 and 2007) the orchestra played the fast polka "Leichtfüßig", composed by our former concertmaster and subscription concert conductor, Josef Hellmesberger, Jr. (1855-1907), as well as Johann Strauss' "Tritsch-Tratsch" Polka.-- Dr. Clemens Hellsberg
