The Vienna Philharmonic performed 11 concerts and 26 operas in July and August 2010 during its 86th season at the Salzburg Festival.
July 26/27 – Large Festival Hall / 50 Years Large Festival Hall Ludwig van Beethoven: Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 4 in G major, op. 58 (Soloist: Daniel Barenboim); Pierre Boulez: Notations I, VII, IV, III, II; Anton Bruckner: Te Deum for Soloists, Chorus and Orchestra (Soloists: Dorothea Röschmann, Soprano; Elīna Garanča, Mezzo soprano; Klaus-Florian Vogt, Tenor; René Pape, Bass; Concert Formation Vienna State Opera Chorus, Preparation: Thomas Lang). Conductor: Daniel Barenboim. This concert was televised on ORF 2.

August 15/16/17 – Large Festival Hall Sergei Prokofiev: Ivan the Terrible – Oratorio for Narrator, Alto, Baritone, Chorus and Orchestra, op. 116 (Soloists: Gérard Depardieu, Narrator; Olga Borodina, Mezzo soprano; Ildar Abdrazakov, Bass; Salzburg Festival Children's Chorus; Concert Formation Vienna State Opera Chorus, Preparation: Thomas Lang). Conductor: Riccardo Muti.
