Tour with Riccardo Muti

Immediately following a concert for the Vienna Festival on June 20, 2010, in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, which featured Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Symphony in C major, KV 425 ("Linzer"), Franz Schubert's "Unfinished Symphony" and the 6th Symphony in B minor, op. 75 ("Pathétique") by Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky conducted by Riccardo Muti, the orchestra left for a short tour which began in Ljubljana. The concert in theSlovenian capital, which was broadcast on national television and with the assistance of the EBU to more than 30 countries, was a tribute to Carlos Kleiber (1930-2004), who had a residence in Konjsica and, along with his wife, Frau Stanka Brezuovar, is buried there.

The program was repeated in Athens on June 22nd as well as a day later in Istanbul. This last concert is of particular importance in the history of the Vienna Philharmonic because it constituted the orchestra's first appearance in Turkey.
