Fantasies of a Knight

Young Peoples' Concert
in the Vienna Konzerthaus

Zubin Mehta and the Vienna Philharmonic performed the tone poem "Don Quixote" by Richard Strauss in the Vienna Konzerthaus. 1500 school children followed the one hour concert with great interest and enthusiasm. Their teachers had prepared them in advance with teaching materials and workshops from the passwort:klassik music education team. The soloists Franz Bartolomey and Heinrich Koll conversed with two ten year old moderators and described how their instruments portray the characters of Don Quixote und Sancho Panza. The dancer Daniel Morales, who embodied the figure of Don Quixote, won over the hearts of the young people in attendance. With the added support of the moderation by a concert educator and pictures drawn by the students, Strauss' complex composition was conveyed in a clear and vivid manner.
