Benefit Concert for the William J. Clinton Foundation

On May 18, 2012, the Vienna Philharmonic participated in a benefit performance for the "William J. Clinton Foundation" at the Burgtheater. Mojca Erdmann (soprano), Bernarda Fink (mezzosoprano), Michael Schade (tenor) and Florian Boesch (bass) sang arias from operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ("Zaide", "Le nozze di Figaro", "Don Giovanni", "Die Zauberflöte", "La clemenza di Tito") as well as arias from Christoph Willibald Gluck's "Orfeo ed Euridice". Sunnyi Melles gave a recitation accompanied by Albena Danailova, with excerpts taken from "Die Frau ohne Schatten" and "Der Rosenkavalier" by Richard Strauss/Hugo Hofmannsthal in an arrangement for narrator and solo violin by Tibor Kovác. In addition, Louis Langrée conducted the first movement from Mozart's Symphony in D major, KV 385 ("Hafner"), as well as the "Figaro" Overture.
