Beethoven at the Premiere Location

The series of the Theater an der Wien entitled "Beethoven at the Premiere Location": continued on May 3, 2013, with a concert by the Vienna Philharmonic under the baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen. The program consisted of Ludwig van Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 2 as well as the Violin Concerto in D major, op. 61, with Julia Fischer as soloist. In between these two works, this German violinist, who was making her debut with our orchestra, performed the Violin Concerto by Esa-Pekka Salonen. This program was repeated on May 5th in Luxemburg (with "Valse triste" from Jean Sibelius' music for Arvid Järnefelt's play "Kuolema" as an encore) and again the next day for the program of the 5th Philharmonic Soirée.
