Prof. Reinhard Öhlberger
For a subscription series concert of the Society of the Friends of Music in Vienna, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Vienna Philharmonic performed an all Schubert program on November 9, 2014. The complete music for the "Großen romantischen Schauspiel Rosamunde, Fürstin von Zypern" by Helmina von Chézy, D 797, as well as the "Unfinished Symphony" in B minor, D 759, made up the program. The soloist was Wiebke Lehmkuhl (Alto), and also performing was the Schoenberg Chorus, prepared by Erwin G. Ortner. The next day this concert was repeated in Berlin in what is now designated as the "Konzerthaus", which earlier was the Royal Schauspielhaus Theater am Gendarmenmarkt. The classical construction of this building by the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, which was opened in 1821, reminds the Viennese guest in some of its details of the Golden Hall of the large Musikverein in Vienna.
