Omicron forces the Vienna Philharmonic to partially cancel the concert tour with Valery Gergiev - concerts in France and Germany are affected.

"Due to the high and steadily increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the orchestra, we unfortunately feel compelled to cancel part of the concert tour with Valery Gergiev and Denis Matsuev.

It affects the concerts in Cologne (January 24), Hamburg (January 25) and Paris (January 26).

Fortunately, the subscription concert was recorded by ORF III for television broadcasting with the same program (Sergej Rachmaninow Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, op. 18 and Sergej Rachmaninow Symphony No 2 in E minor, op. 27). ORF III will broadcast the concert on March 13, 2022 at 8:00 PM (CET).

We assume that we will be able to play all concerts in Vienna, in other European countries and in the USA from February 18th as planned," said Daniel Froschauer, director of the Vienna Philharmonic.
