Biography

Kerstin Steinbauer was born 2001 in Tulln, Austria, and attended the Musical Secondary School in Tulln and then the Vienna Music High School in the Neustiftgasse. She began her musical studies as an oboist in 2010 with Eva Griebl-Stich at the music school in Tulln, continuing in 2017 with Prof. Thomas Höniger at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna as part of the preparatory course. With the same teacher, she has pursued her bachelor as an oboe major since 2021.

Kerstin Steinbauer has won several first prizes at the Austrian competition “prima la musica” in the years 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021 at the regional and national levels. She has also taken part in numerous master classes with prominent artists such as Ivan Podyomov, François Leleux, Gregor Witt, David Walter, Jean-Louis Capezzali, Christian Wetzel, and Albrecht Mayer.

She has garnered orchestral experience at the Vienna Philharmonic Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy in 2021, the orchestra of the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna, the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra, the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra, as well as with her own quintet, Take 5. As a result of her winning the first prize at the “Musica Juventutis” competition in 2021, she performed her debut as a soloist in the Schubert Auditorium of the Vienna Konzerthaus on March 6, 2023.
