Biography

Klaus Höpfler was born in 1995 in Schärding, Austria, and received his first horn instruction from Maria Eder at the age of seven. After preparatory studies at the Anton Bruckner Private University with Professors Albert Heitzinger and Christoph Peham, he transferred to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where since 2015 he has studied with Prof. Christoph Peham.

While taking part in various master classes such as the Hornwerkstatt and the Vienna Philharmonic Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy, Klaus Höpfler received instruction with prominent horn players such as Peter Dorfmayr, Manuel Huber, Thomas Jöbstl, Wolfgang Lintner, and Wolfgang Vladar.

Klaus Höpfler has garnered orchestral experience with the Vienna Symphony, the Vienna Volksoper, the Stage Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra. Since October 2023 he has been a member of the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra Academy and since November 2023 also of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Academy. Concert tours with various orchestras and ensembles have taken him to such destinations as Australia, China, and Japan.

In addition, Klaus Höpfler is a member of the woodwind quintet Windobona, that won first prize at the 4th International Franz Cibulka Competition in Graz in 2022.
