The Vienna Philharmonic mourns the loss of Maurizio Pollini (1942 – 2024)

Maurizio Pollini performed with the Vienna Philharmonic for the first time on May 29, 1971, under Claudio Abbado at the Musikverein Vienna. This was followed by a total of over 50 joint concerts in Vienna and on tour. On the occasion of the performance of the five piano concertos as part of the Beethoven cycle in New York in 1987, Pollini was awarded the Vienna Philharmonic's Ring of Honor as a sign of appreciation and solidarity.
