Momoko Aritomi was born in Japan in 1996 and received her first instruction on violin and piano at the age of four. After graduating from the Tokyo University of Arts, she came to Vienna to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts. There she initially received instruction from Professors Wolfgang Klos and Ulrich Schönauer, and subsequently from Prof. Thomas Selditz. She completed her studies with distinction in July 2022.

Momoko Aritomi's many successes include first place at the Japan Player's Competition 2013, second place at the International Anton Rubinstein Competition 2019, first place at the Vienna Dichler Competition and third place at the 16th Tokyo Music Competition (concerto performance with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra). She was a finalist at the Viennese International Competition of Classical Strings (concerto performance with the Slovakian Radio Symphony Orchestra) and received second place and the special prize of the Romanian Embassy at the Romanian International Music Competition, as well as second place at the International Johannes Brahms Competition. Momoko Aritomi took part in the Vienna Philharmonic Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy in 2019 and received a scholarship from the Josef & Harrietta Krips Foundation in Switzerland in 2020. She also won the HFP Next Generation Prize in Vienna in 2022.
