1st Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Chamber Music Series in the Vienna State Opera 2014/15
The now firmly established Vienna Philharmonic Chamber Music Series in the Vienna State Opera continues in the 2014/15 season. The first public concert of the "Philharmonie-Ensemble-Wien", which was founded in June 2013, took place as the opening concert of this series on October 4th in the Gustav Mahler Hall. This ensemble is comprised of member of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera, including Alina Pinchas and Dominik Hellsberg (Violin), Robert Bauerstatter (Viola), Edison Pashko (Violoncello), Herbert Mayr (Contrabass), Karin Bonelli (Flute), Clemens Horak (Oboe) Stefan Neubauer (Clarinet), Michael Werba (bassoon) and Wolfgang Vladar (Horn).
Two expansive compositions by the early romantic composers, George Onslow and Louis Spohr for nine musicians (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn, Basoon, Violin, Viola, Violoncello, Contrabass), framed the "Divertissement für Bassoon and Strings" by Jean Françaix. In response to the audiences' demand for an encore, one section of the last movement of the Nonet by Louis Spohr was repeated.
