Concert Tour with Riccardo Chailly

The compositions performed on the 5th Philharmonic Subscription Concert Series conducted by Riccardo Chailly were Jean Sibelius' tone poem, "Finlandia" as well as Anton Bruckner's 6th Symphony. Also on this program was the Violin Concerto by Sibelius which represented the debut of Leonidas Kavakos in our subscription concerts. This program was first presented in St. Pölten on January 10, 2014, before the beginning of a European tour extending from January 13 through January 19, and including performances in Amsterdam, Geneva, Basel, Cologne, Milan and Paris. The one exception on the program for this tour was that in Milan, Christian Tetzlaff performed the Sibelius concerto instead of Leonidas Kavakos.
