About the Exhibitions

The Historical Archives of the Vienna Philharmonic present the history of the Vienna Philharmonic in a permanent as well as a special exhibition in the Haus der Musik in Vienna. The special exhibition is redesigned twice a year.

Special Exhibitions 2024

First Special Exhibition starting May 2, 2024

The first special exhibition of the Historical Archives of the Vienna Philharmonic in the Haus der Musik in Vienna commemorating the bicentennial of the world premiere of Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th Symphony will be open to the public beginning on May 2, 2024. Scores, program leaflets and a letter from Leonard Bernstein will be on display in commemoration of this anniversary.

Special Exhibitions 2024

Second Special Exhibition starting December 18, 2024

The second exhibition of the Historical Archives of the Vienna Philharmonic in the Haus der Musik takes place in conjunction with the first performance of a composition of Constanze Geiger in a Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert. The exhibition features portrayals of the composers Constanze Geiger und Josephine Weinlich as well as objects pertaining to the life of Constanze Geiger.

Special Exhibitions 2025

Third Special Exhibition starting October 1, 2025

The third special exhibit of the Vienna Philharmonic Historical Archives in the Haus der Musik in Vienna is entitled "Johann Strauss and the Vienna Philharmonic". Various images, programs and written documents will be on display.
