Successful completion of the first year of the Orchestra Academy 2019 - 2021

Last Saturday, June 26, 2021, the graduation ceremony for the first graduates of the Orchestra Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic, which was established in 2019, took place. The Academists were presented with their diplomas by managing director and double bass player Michael Bladerer and during their small ceremony, they reflected on the two years they spent together with the orchestra. The personal highlights of the Academists included meeting great conductors personally in “meet & greet” sessions, two Asia tours that they completed with the orchestra, and having private lessons with members of the orchestra.

The graduates of the first year 2019-2021 were able to achieve the following successes within the Orchestra Academy by the end of their second season:

Kelton Koch has passed his probation period and is now a member of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra.

Daniel Schinnerl-Schlaffer won the audition (June 2021) for a trumpet position in the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. 

Hannah Cho, Benedikt Sinko, and Paul Blüml get a temporary contract at the Vienna State Opera for 2021/22 and continue to play in philharmonic projects.

Ulisse Mazzon started studying at the mdw (university of music and performing arts Vienna) with Albena Danailova (concertmaster) and will continue to do auditions as well as take part in competitions.

Samuel Mittag won the audition (May 2021) for a position at the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Hana Jeong goes to South Korea, does auditions there, and will get a professorship.

Andrei Krivenko won the audition for solo flute in the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.

Andraz Golob won the fixed position for bass clarinet with the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Szabolcs Szöke gets a temporary contract with the Tonkünstler Orchester Niederösterreich.

Michael Stückler will continue to play in the orchestra of the Vienna Volksoper and prepare for the audition in the State Opera.

Patrick Hofer has been in the trial period in the orchestra of the Landestheater Klagenfurt since September 1st, 2020.
