Benefit Concert for the American Austrian Foundation

The annual benefit concert in New York, through which the Vienna Philharmonic has supported the American-Austrian Foundation since 1997, took place this year for the first time in the Alice Tully Hall in the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on November 30, 2011. The proceeds went once again to the "Open Medical Institute", a foundation enabling top medical specialists from Austria and the United States of America in educating over 8,000 doctors from the former eastern block countries, Asia, and Africa.

Martin Kubik, Eckhard Seifert, Robert Bauerstatter and Fritz Dolezal performed the Quartet Movement in C minor, D703, by Franz Schubert.  Along with Clemens Hellsberg, Gerald Schubert, Alexander Steinberger and Michael Bladerer, they also accompanied Hans Peter Schuh in the Suite in D major for Trumpet and Strings, HWV 341, by Georg Friedrich Händel as well as in Joseph Haydn's Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra in E-flat major, Hob.Vlle:1 in an arrangement by Erich Kaufmann.
