Death of Walter Barylli

The Vienna Philharmonic mourns the death of longstanding member Walter Barylli.

Walter Barylli, born in Vienna on June 16, 1921, joined the Vienna Philharmonic at the young age of 17 as first violinist and was active member till the year 1972. He was concertmaster from 1939 on and Chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic from 1966-1969. 

We are very grateful for everything he contributed to the orchestra over decades. Our thoughts are with his family.
