The Austrian Bernhard Bittermann began playing trumpet at the age of five. At 15, he was brought to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna by Josef Bammer, trumpet player of the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra. Shortly thereafter, he transferred to the class of Prof. Martin Mühlfellner, with whom he still studies. At the age of 22, he won the audition for the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic in Salzburg.

Bernhard Bittermann has collected additional musical experience with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna State Opera Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony, the Tonkünstler Orchestra and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, playing under renowned conductors such as Philippe Jordan, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Yutaka Sado und Franz Welser-Möst. In 2019, he performed as a soloist as part of the concert series 'High Class I' at the Wiener Musikverein.

Bernhard Bittermann has also participated in master classes with Michael Sachs, Johann Plank, Andreas Öttl, Laura Vukobratovic and Bernhard Pronebner.  He has been awarded first prizes in the category 'trumpet solo' at the Austrian competition Prima la Musica at the regional and national levels. In 2017, he was the recipient of the second prize at the Lions Music Competition.
