Three New Members

	Sebastian Bru

Sebastian Bru, was born into a musical family in Vienna on October 24, 1987, and received his first cello lessons at the age of 8 from his father, Ricardo Bru, principal cellist at the Vienna Volksoper. He continued his study of the cello study with Krystina Wimmer (Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra) and Josef Podhoransky (College of Music, Bratislava), as well as with Robert Nagy (Vienna Conservatory Private University). He augmented this work with courses and master classes from Clemens Hagen, David Geringas, Swteven Isserlis and Heinrich Schiff. Already at a young age, Sebastian Bru dedicated himself to orchestral playing, performing with, among others, the Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Verbier Festival Orchestra. At the age of 18, he won an audition and was accepted into the Vienna State Opera Orchestra, beginning his service there on November 1, 2006, as a member of the cello section.

Having precociously procured numerous prizes such as at the Jugendwettbewerb "Prima la musica" and at the "Fedelio-Wettbewerb" and in addition to having served as principal cellist with the Vienna Symphony, Sebastian Bru made solo appearances in Austria, Europe, South America and Asia, performing with the Vienna Symphony, the Orquesta Sinfonía Nacional (Buenos Aires), the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Wiener Chamber Orchestra, the orchestra "Spirit of Europe" and others. Among his partners in these appearances have been Rudolf Buchbinder, Ildikó Raimondi, as well as numerous members of the Vienna Philharmonic. Many of his concerts have been broadcast nationally and internationally.

	Filip Waldmann

Filip Waldmann was born on December 25, 1987 in Mělník, Czech Republic. He received his first musical training on the violin at the age of six, and after six years of study, switched instruments to the contrabass. After studying a short time with Pavel Nejtek, he enrolled in 2001 in the class of his father, Jakub Waldmann, at the Music High School in Prague, where he received his diploma in 2007. He then continued his studies at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz with Anton Schachenhofer and received his Bachelor's degree in November 2012. Even during his student days, Filip Waldmann was gaining important orchestral experience by playing in national and international youth orchestras (Akademie Svatého Václava, Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra) as well as by serving as a substitute in the Czech Chamber Orchestra, in the Bruckner Orchestra in Linz and - following a successful substitute audition - in the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. In November 2009, he successfully auditioned for a vacant contrabass position at the Vienna State Opera, beginning his service there on December 1, 2009.

Filip Waldmann can also point to extensive chamber music activity and solo appearances. He has won numerous competitions, such as two first prizes at the "Franz Simandl Contrabass Competition (named after the former Philharmonic principal contrabassist) in 2006 and 2008, as well as participation in the ARD Music Competition 2009 and making it to the finals at the Markneukirchen Music Competition in 2011.

	Herbert Maderthaner

Herbert Maderthaner was born on June 13, 1981 as the sixth of seven children in Windhag bei Waidhofen an der Ybbs, and beginning at the age of seven studied clarinet with his brother, Thomas. A short time later he was playing along with his siblings in the town band of Windhang under the direction of his father, whereupon he was so fascinated with the sound of the oboe that in 1996 he decided to study the instrument with Johannes Strassl at the Musikschule Waidhofen an der Ybbs. Shortly thereafter he was playing in the local chamber orchestra and in 2000 gained a place in the class of Thomas Höniger at the Vienna Conservatory. In 2005, Herbert Maderthaner received his first engagement with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he worked for five years on second oboe and English horn while at the same time preparing himself for the next step in his career. With another  successful audition, he secured an engagement with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra, where he began (also on second oboe and English horn) on January 1, 2010.

Since the beginning of his musical career, Herbert Maderthaner has dedicated himself intensely to chamber music. Along with Matthias Schulz (Flute, Stage Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera), Daniel Ottensamer, David Seidel (bassoon, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra) and Jonas Rudner (horn, Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra), he founded the "BAOLE Quintet Vienna" and also worked with the "Wiener Virtuosen". He belongs to the "Theophil Ensemble" founded in 2008 by Matthias Schorn, which is composed of members from various Viennese orchestras and named after Theophil Hansen, the Danish architect of the Vienna Musikverein building.
