How do I register for tickets to the New Year's Concert?
The first step is to register for a user account on the website of the Vienna Philharmonic. In order to register, use the button "REGISTER/LOGIN", which you will find at the upper right of every page on the website. After your user account has been registered, you can make your application for tickets during the application period in the “My Account” area under “New Year's Concerts Ticket Drawing”.

Why do I have to open a user account before taking part in the drawing?
In order to administer the drawing as well as the online purchase of tickets and other products, we need to have registration information available.

If I am not successful in the drawing, can I put myself on a waiting list for the following years?
No, there is no waiting list.

For how many New Year's Concert tickets may I apply?
You can make one application for each of the three concerts. For the New Year's Concert you can apply for up to two tickets. For the New Year's Eve Concert and the Preview Performance you can apply for up to four tickets.

When should I apply for tickets?
Make your applications for tickets during the application period which is announced on this website. After this date, no more applications will be accepted.

What is the procedure used for the drawing?
The drawing takes place completely anonymously through a computer program which randomly selects applicants from among all applications which have been submitted for the seats in each category which have been released for drawing. The tickets are then reserved for these applicants directly in our ticket reservation system. Every year, the chances of winning are the same for all participants.

Are all seats in the hall sold by way of the drawing?
No, some seats are reserved for press, supporters and orchestra members.

The only way to obtain tickets for these concerts is by taking part in the online drawing! Do I have to re-apply for tickets every year?
Yes, you need to make your ticket requests in each year you wish to participate. There is no waiting list for subsequent years.

Is it advantageous to apply early on in the application period?
No. Within the application period, the actual sign-up time is irrelevant. An application made at the beginning of the application period has the same chances as an application made at the end of the application period.

How can I confirm that my application has been entered into the system?
You can confirm the status of your application on the website at any time. Please log in, navigate to the “My Account” section of the website and the tab “New Year's Concert Tickets Drawing”. There you will see the date of the concert, number of tickets and price category for which you have applied.

I have been participating in the drawing for many years but have never been selected. Why not?
There is great demand for these tickets. Every year we receive thousands of applications from all over the world. For this reason, oftentimes even participating over many years does not lead to being selected in the drawing and receiving an offer for tickets.

I sent an e-mail in regard to the drawing but did not receive any response. Why not?
Please understand that during the application time period we are not able to answer all e-mail inquiries. All frequently asked questions are answered in the Help Center. We ask for your understanding that questions regarding the New Year's Concert and the drawing of tickets which are already answered in the Help Center will not be answered by e-mail.

How many tickets are sold by way of the drawing?
There are approximately 900 tickets from each concert which are sold by way of the drawing.

Is the selected price category binding?
During the time period of application, changes can be made to the selected ticket category. Once this period is over (end of February), the category selected is, for administrative reasons, binding.

What is the dress code for the New Year's Concert?
For the New Year's Concerts we recommend elegant concert dress.

Is the conductor the same for all three concerts?
Yes, the conductor and the program are the same for all three concerts.

Can I purchase tickets for the dress rehearsal?
Tickets are allotted for the Preview Performance, the New Year's Eve Concert and the New Year's Concert. All rehearsals are closed to the public.

Is the Preview Performance on December 30 the same in all aspects as the concerts on December 31 and January 1?
The Preview Performance on December 30 is the same concert as on December 31 and January 1. The program, the conductor and the dress of the orchestra is the same for all three concerts. Only the floral decorations are not yet fully set up.

I sent an application for tickets for the New Year's Concert, but didn't get an e-mail confirmation. Is there a problem?
We do not send confirmation messages when you make your seat selection. You can view your selection at any time in the “My Account” section of the website. The only e-mail you will receive from us is the information about the results of the drawing which will be sent in March.

We found an internet site that is offering New Year's Concert tickets for very high prices without having to take part in the drawing. Are such websites legitimate?
The Vienna Philharmonic disapproves of the practice of purchasing event tickets on such secondary exchange platforms. We offer tickets for the New Year's Concert solely by way of the drawing and have no influence on potential resale. We are often informed about ticket offers circulating on the internet. We advise not to make purchases on such online ticket exchanges, the legitimacy of which we are not able to evaluate.

This year there is a special occasion in our family and it would be the fulfilling of a dream to attend this concert. Could you not make an exception for us and allocate us tickets outside of the drawing?
We receive many such requests every year. Although we would like to fulfill such requests, it is simply not possible. The only way to obtain tickets for these concerts is by taking part in the online drawing!
